Finance

The Finance department is located at 263L Namu Place, has five full-time staff members, and one part-time staff member.  As of March 5, 2023, our new Chief Financial Officer, Sarabjit (Serge) Parmar, joined the Heiltsuk Indian Band. Upon his arrival he assessed our procedures, started enforcing the Financial Administration Law. 

Onwards, we will be enforcing strict procedures according to our FAL.

Our finance department worked diligently, long hours and for the first time in a decade the band and HTC audit will be on time and signed July 17, 2023. Also, in the history of HTC, our budgets were prepared and approved by Council; it was also imported into our Xyntax accounting system. 

We are now able to provide monthly financial statements.

As a team, we reconciled our Visa credit card statements for 12 months, we are working on daily bank transactions. 

The Senior Finance Manager, Melanie Holmes, has completed her Certified Aboriginal Finance Manager certificate and will be attending the Grad Gala held by AFOA in September 2023.

Our Finance department is currently busy working with the auditors, Reid Hurst Nagy. We are team building and working hard to the betterment of our Nation.
